I purchased a country home 3 years ago. The water heater I was told was 2 years old. Maybe 60 days after closing the water heater started leaking from the bottom of the tank. I replaced the unit with a AO smith 40 Unit. The odor for about 3 or 4 months was terrible but subsided about 3 months later. After meeting the neighbors, I learned that they have the same problem with odor and tanks failing. it seems our water table is very acidic. After doing some water odor problems research I stumbled across this product thinking it maybe would help. I pulled the original rod out of the tank and at least 60% of it was gone and the rest of it was coated in a goowy like gray/white slime and stunk to high heaven. I yanked the heater out, purchased another AO smith unit and installed this product from the start. I have had absolutely no problems with odor issues since. I was concerned that something was wrong so I pulled the rod out and it looked brand new. I have no odor from the start and to this day. Great product and so I recommended it to my neighbors who purchased it as well.
Thank You!

I purchased this unit July 18, 2020 and gave it a month before I would consider a review. That month has passed and I am pleased with the product. When the product first arrived and I was installing it, I lost the plastic washer for the anode. Matt was kind enough to send me a replacement the very next day and this product works as the add describes it since my hot water is gone.

Purchased 2 months ago. I was hesitant on it but it seems to work as advertised. I have no hot water odor issues since. The original anode was not that difficult to remove. I would recommend this product. 1 short note, leave the water in the tank when removing the anode. I drained the tank to give it a flush but did not read the instructions that said leave it full. I should have removed the anode then flushed the tank.

I live in a small city in Michigan and our water quality sucks to say the least. I was burning through a water heater every 3 years from leaks. The water stunk and the flow turned orange within 2 years. I purchased this product 2 years ago and installed it in my new tank. The smell was gone 2 days later and my water stayed clear until I moved 2 months ago. I purchased another product from this company 2 weeks ago. Same results no odor. I asked the owner Matt at least 5 emails on how this product works because I do not understand anything about it on my first purchase. Matt explained and gave me diagrams on my heater on how to install it with my different tank. I have never received this type of help from any product since I kept asking questions and he did not give up a blow me off and ignor me. I can only say I have had a good experience with this product.

I am a subcontractor for a home builder in Michigan. We use to install Bradford White heaters in all of the homes we plumbed. The problem started with some tanks leaking within a year after installation which I am responsible for the service call and the damage it does. We hard plumb all units with a union to the hot and cold water inlets. Changing Bradford heater anodes can't be done unless we put a flex line in which adds to the cost plus we have to order them since no store carries them. We switched to a Rheem system in all our installations and actually get better pricing. Now to the anode. I installed a D/C voltage monitor on the first system I installed in our home figuring I would check it out before I made a offer to my main contractor to install this type of unit. I purchased 4 other units from Amazon and tested them for 3 days each. My readings of the power going into the tank were: .9 volts .4 volts .5 volts and this product at 1.9 volts. It is worth mentioning the 1.9 volts fluctuated at times from 1.5 to 2.3 and back down, I use a water softener that cycles every day and figure the salt is a factor. The other products I installed for testing voltages remained the same. Conclusion. I am convinced that this products power supply is "smart" as the website says meaning it raises and lowers current based upon the electrical potential of the water. I can't speak for every customer or contractor but I can say I have not had a problem since I started implementing this product in my check list. Andrew

Even with a recessed anode rod it was easy. Will update after a few weeks once the bleach I put in well dissipates. Tip for anyone with a recessed anode rod...follow instructions...only take top nut off and screw on extension. I had removed the white plastic spacer which stopped me from getting a green light. Great customer service also!

We moved into our home in January 2020 and had to remodel it. When the renovation was completed and we move in, our hot water smelled had an odor that was offensive. We shocked the well and poured bleach in the tank but it came back within 2 weeks. We have a gas 40 gallon water tank. I had purchased a powered anode on amazon in Febuary. The odor returned within 30 days. I contacted waterodor.com and talked to Matt for some advise about his product. After 5 emails I purchased his product and to this date 7-2-2020 the odor has not returned. I am very pleased with no more hot water odor. Patty

My take on this product. The delivery was quick, 2 days. The instructions were simple and was installed in 1/2 hour. Does it monitor the water, yes. When installed the voltage after the led turned green (it took about a minute not the seconds the add claims) was 3.1 volts. That night my softener cycled and the next morning the voltage was 1.2 volts. 3 days later my softener was ready to cycle and the voltage was 2.9 volts. The next day it was 1.3 volts. I am convinced that this product performs as stated. My only complaint is that it did not come with a socket to remove the original anode and install the new one since I had to purchase one.

So my experience I had a water heater that was causing a egg smell in my water , smelled even using cold. I tried everything. Tried to change my anode rod, I could not get it out. So I got a new 50 gallon hybrid water heater installed thinking this would cure my problem. Think again, I came across this product on eBay, read reviews and I decided to buy it. It came in and I installed it. Very easy to install on a new tank with the right tools. In two hours there was absolutely no more smell (Amazing) So I have had it for a year and last week I noticed that the green light was not on, so I decided to email Matt about this. Within a few hours he responded and let me know he had a batch that had a led light problem and he would send a new module to me the next day at no charge. Within two days I received the new one. Amazing customer service, Amazing product. If only all the company's in America operated in this manor. I Highly Recommend Matt and his product if anyone is experiencing similar problems. Thanks Todd

If you enjoy showering, washing dishes, or doing laundry in the sewer, then this is not for you. If your hot water stinks, this is what you need! I was skeptical, but thought what have I got to lose. After any amount of water usage, the whole house would smell. After some research I hit on this anode rod idea and Matt's reviews were all great, so I ordered one. It came days ahead of projection, documentation was spot on, installation was a breeze and best of all- the problem was gone in 24hrs. I will recommend this product to anyone in this situation. Thank You

I have purchased this product since 2018 on a monthly basis for my customers here in Michigan. This product will get rid of the hot water odor. I had 2 led failures on the power supply in 2019. I emailed this company on a saturday night and had 2 new units in my mail box the next wednesday. Great product and customer service to say the least.

I purchased 2 of these units in June 2020 to replace 2 units of another name I purchased on Amazon that was turning my water a yellow/orange tint. I checked the power output to the anode on both units and got a reading of only .03 volts which tells me the both power supplies could not keep up after 4 months even though the bright green LED was lit. I have an AO smith 40 gallon and a Bradford 40 gallon. After the installation the Bradford tank power supply LED stayed red and would not turn green even though it was hooked up per instructions. I contacted Matt and after some photo exchanges I had to change the Bradford tank T setup to a smaller pipe length coming out of the tank. After the change the LED turned green in about 4 seconds and has been working fine since. After installing these units, the water has returned to clear once again. One power supply going to the Bradford tank is now 1.8 to 2.1 volts and the newer AO smith tank is 1.0 to 1.2. Very pleased with this product and the customer service.

I had overall a very positive experience about the product and the service. After 15mins of installation work, the product cured the sulfur smell right away and worked flawlessly for about 2 years or so. Then, one day the LED on the power supply turned RED - which indicated a problem. Matt was able to give me an email explanation right away, regardless of a weekend; After a short discussion, he offered a replacement unit free of charge, also with the shipping overseas! Superb service and product! Highly recommend.

I had a lot of communication with Matt from this company, and I have been very impressed with his knowledge, and he answered any question I had, no matter how simple, or how technical it was. He also explained to me about the background behind this kind of technology and also how it works. I also read all the reviews to learn more about this product. And I was very impressed how positive all of these reviews were.
Unfortunately my power supply went bad in about 2 months. I read that only a couple other people had a problem with their power supplies as well. Out of all high number of positive reviews, only a very small number of customers had this problem, and that really this says a lot about a product. These are very good odds. In todays world the success rate of a lot of products is really bad. And seems to be getting worse.
Well anyway, I emailed Matt, he told me some things to check out, and helped me determine that the power supply needed replacing, and sent me a new one right away. How about that for service, and, how quickly he answer emails. He also tells me that he is very proactive in fixing problems with the power supplies as problems arise. As an example, this generation of power supplies have been changed, with a more robust LED and the circuitry is improving as problems develop. Now days with mass production things are bound to have problems, but not a lot of companies seem to really care. They continue selling bad products and we as customers suffer the loss. This does not seem to be the case with Matt at WaterTankTec. He really seems to care, and truly takes good care of his customers, and cares a lot about his product. I hope his company continues to be successful, and he keeps doing such a great job for us.

Contacted Matt with a problem with my system and he was quick to determine the problem and the solution. I have been in business for almost 30 years and have dealt with a lot of companies and have never had anyone so quick to respond with solution and corrective action and explanation to avoid this problem in the future. Great communicator and great product. This guy is as good as it gets. Thanks for all your help! George

I purchased this product in mid March 2019 and another one in May 2020 under the advice of my coworker who purchased one from Amazon. I do have a rotten egg smell and my heater also burns through anodes every 6 months since our water softener serves 8 people in our home and I have 2 50 gallon AO smith tanks and the softner cycles every day. I asked my plumber to install it and was surprised he never heard of them. The installation was easy and the instructions were clear according to him. When he plugged the power in the red led flashed for about 6 seconds then turned green but blinked real quick. I contacted Matt at Water Tank Tec and was told the red light was normal since the power input was adjusting and the green light would always flicker when it was done and it does. When my second unit was installed I had my plumber flush the older tank and the water was clear with no sediment or color. I am very pleased with this product.
